Jim McFarlane, Owner

Jim McFarlane, Owner and Operator of United Landscape, grew up in Hertfordshire, England and has lived in the United States since 1991. Jim began United Landscape with a vision of blending Old English gardening traditions with American charm and function. He has a degree in Horticulture and Design from Eastern Kentucky University. Jim’s main responsibilities today is to guide the company on its journey as one of the leading landscape companies in the area, creating the highest value possible to its customers and to be a generous contributor to the community. Outside of work Jim enjoys time with his family, gardening, playing soccer, swimming, hiking, mountain biking and sailing.


Sue Ellen McFarlane, Office Management

Sue Ellen McFarlane grew up in Danville, Kentucky. She graduated from Transylvania University with a business degree. After some years in the hotel industry, Sue Ellen took over the day-to-day management of the office responsibilities for United Landscape. She likes to stay fit by running with friends or attending group workouts. For fun, she really enjoys University of Kentucky sports, hiking, and most recently gardening.


Kim Ellington, Account Manager

Kim Ellington joined United Landscape early in 2013. She has brought enormous value to our customers with her attention to detail, responsiveness to customer requests, passion for all things green and colorful and her creative abilities with landscape designs and container displays. On top of that, she finds time to stay current as an ISA Certified Arborist. Born and raised in Lexington, she is married, with 3 wonderful grandchildren with whom she enjoys sharing the joy of gardening. For fun, Kim enjoys hiking, bike riding, gardening and spending time with family.
